Through the years, Saint Michael College stood firm in serving God and mankind through education. The feast of Saint Michael this year was celebrated with different activities that started with the first college reunion on September 21, 2013. This was attended by 200 alumni who were glad to see each other, and spent time together to reminisce their “good old days.” A Holy Mass at 2:00 p.m. was offered at the Immaculate Conception Parish Church presided by Rev. Fr. Danny Garay, DCT and was followed by a parade around the town. The program came next and the alumni were introduced by batch. Dance presentations were given by the college faculty, staff and students to entertain them. This was followed by a meeting to organize the college alumni and to select representatives each from Carrascal, Madrid, Carmen, Lanuza, Cantilan and from other places outside of CARCANMADCARLAN. Dinner and Dance came next and the alumni enjoyed the night.
On September 26, the SMC populace gathered for the Eucharistic celebration at 8:00 o’clock in the morning. Rev. Fr. Danny Garay, DCT, Rev. Fr. Edwin Decena, DCT and Rev. Fr. Raymond Ambray, DCT celebrated the Holy Mass. Subsequently, a parade around the town was made and the opening of the SMC Intramurals 2013 came next. The Intramurals lasted for three days from September 26-28, 2013. Different games were played to develop the sportsmanship and camaraderie among students.
On September 27 at 4:30 in the morning, a fun run for a cause, “Dyagan para sa Iskolar,” sponsored by HS Batch 1988 took place. It was participated by many alumni, faculty, staff and students. The starting and ending point was the school quadrangle. Medical Mission was also conducted that day at the college lobby and science laboratory. Bloodletting was part of the morning activity, too. In the evening, a concert was performed by Mr. Zandro C. Urbiztondo, an SMC alumnus, at the Cantilan Gymnasium aimed at raising funds for the alumni scholarship program.
The next day, September 28, was the high school alumni day. The silver and golden jubilarians, HS Batch 1988 and Batch 1963, respectively, hosted the reunion. A Holy Mass opened the day’s activities at 8:00 o’clock in the morning and the blessing of the SMC Chrome Signage, HS Batch 1988 project, took place. This was followed by a motorcade in town then the general assembly at the MCCC. Parlor games were done in the afternoon. In the evening, a program, dinner and dance took place at the school ground.
The last day of the celebration on September 29 was Family Day. Everybody joined hands in celebrating the feast day of Saint Michael. The SMC family attended the 6:00 o’clock morning mass at the parish church. The other activities started at 9:00 o’clock in the morning. Presentations were given by pupils, students, faculty, staff and parents. The CADT class performed the Pass-in-Review, the Drum and Glockenspiel Corps of the elementary department gave an exhibition, and series of dance presentations by grade school pupils, high school and college students. All these made the event more colorful and enjoyable. After the presentations, lunch followed at the SMC ground. In the afternoon, a raffle draw sponsored by the grade school PTA was made and presentations from the parents, faculty and staff of the college, high school and grade school were showcased. Parlor games came next.
The celebration was anchored on the theme “SMC Education for Peace and Unity in the World through the Years.”
