Fifty-two Michaelinian writers participated in the 2014 Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held last September 23-25, 2014 at Madrid National High School, Madrid Surigao del Sur highlighting the theme “Empowering Resilient Communities through Campus Journalism”.
Michaelinians joined the 2014 Cluster Science Congress, Fair and Quiz held at Parang National High School, Parang, Cantilan, Surigao del Su last October 22, 2014. The event was anchored on the theme, “Environment Protection and Conservation: Key factors to a Sustainable K+12 Implementation.”
SMC’s new generation of scientists was able to excel in various events since the school’s first appearance in the congress. With 14 participating schools from CarCanMadCarLan, the Michaelinians stood with pride and honor as the results were announced:
Michaelinians once again proved their prowess in debate during the seventh leg of the Caraga Parliamentary Debate Championship (CPDC) Law Fortun Cup, the biggest and grandest debate tournament of the region held at Agusan National High School, Butuan City, last December 12-14, 2014.
The resignation of Benedict XVI, on March 13, 2013 made the papal conclave elect Jorge Mario Bergoglio the new pope with his papal name Francis as the new Pope. He is the present Pope of the Roman Catholic Church and the Head of the Vatican City which is the smallest independent country in the world. He is an Italian-blooded Latin American called by Filipinos as Lolo Kiko – “Lolo” is the local word for grandfather and “Kiko” a nickname for Filipinos named Francisco.
A total of 282 Michaelinians in all levels marched for graduation this March 2015 for the Academic Year 2014-2015. Ninety-six college students – 1 from the Liberal Arts, 17 from the Teacher Education, 14 from the Computer Science and 64 from the Business Administration, finished their baccalaureate degrees and received their diplomas on March 17, 2015. The event started with a Baccalaureate Mass at exactly 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Immaculate Conception Parish Church officiated by Rev. Msgr. Florio R.

September 26, 2014 marked the day of a grandiose showcase of Michaelinian talents tagged as TALENT ABLAZE 2014 at the Maalman Christian Community Center participated by selected elementary, high school and college students. The said contest kicked off as a signal of the one year countdown of Saint Michael College towards the Grand Centennial Celebration in September 2015.
The SMC Alumni Association sponsored a Dinner for a Cause on August 13, 2014. This was held at the sports court of Saint Michael College, 6:00-11:00 o’clock in the evening. The activity was part of the Pre-Centennial celebration of the school aimed at raising fund for additional college classrooms.
Mr. Edilberto Cortes, Alumni President and Ms. Rizalita A. Mabalay, MBA, Alumni Coordinator, were very positive that the activity would be one way of reaching out to the alumni and inspiring them to come and attend the great celebration next year.
The celebration of Saint Michael College Foundation day this year was a tremendous success. “Alive and Ablaze in God’s Light at ‘99” was everywhere in the campus during the four day event. The celebration started with the College Alumni Reunion on September 20, 3:00- 11:00 p.m. The events during the gathering of college graduates were simple but full of gist.
Lieutenant General Hernando Delfi n Carmelo A. Iriberri, Commanding General of the Philippine Army visited Saint Michael College in the afternoon of August 12, 2014. General Iriberri is a proud Cantilangnon and an honorary member of Saint Michael College Alumni Association having spent his fi rst three years of high school studies in SMC. He was appointed to his present position last February 2014. He was overwhelmed with the way he was welcomed by the SMC administration, faculty, staff and students.
